prodigal and whatnot;
As you all may have noticed from the sudden spike of sheer joy in your otherwise dreary lives, I'm back. Argentina was amazing, photo barrage to come, etc etc. I'm catching up on games and trying to get a head start on NeoPowerSwap09, so if we should be scening, let me know!

On a more pertinent issue, I am in crisis. For the first time since I could walk, I am without a costume for Halloween. Not kidding, I used to have waking nightmares about this situation when I was younger. In August. So I'm turning to you, Internetlandia, for inspiration. I've had a few ideas (Query: going hardcore on red, white and blue facepaint, donning a suit, and going as the Obama Hope poster: too last year?) but I'm looking for something to love. Costume SOS, People!!

It was kind of a lame show about kids at summer camp and is mostly remembered for crazy 90s fashion and the theme song. Summer camp= ghost stories= Zeke the Plumber.

Sadly, that is a bit too last year, because I really like that idea. HMM. Ryan, is it too audacious to assume you have a costume closet to potentially mix and match things? It just seems your style.

Yes, I have a Tickle Trunk. But all my good stuff is in Vancouver; my Toronto one is still in its relative infancy.

is it foolish of me to inquire as to what you mean by "tickle trunk"?

Wow, my whole life and only now am I discovering that's a Canadian term, not universal. It's culled from a childen's show called Mr. Dressup, wherein he would get his costumes from his Tickle Trunk. Here we use it as a reference for a store of reusable costume paraphernalia from Halloweens past.

!!!!!! THAT IS SO COOL! Which kind of makes me want to recommend that you dress up as Mr. Dressup proper, tbqh. If I was passable, I'd totally try Mr. Rogers, but that is because I've the mind of a tiny child as evident by my other recommendations.

Ironically enough, Mr. Dressup was the first costume I considered this year - but I'm trying to come up with something that won't just wind up with me looking like a poorly dressed old man. Mr. Rogers, Fred Penner and Bob Ross were all nixed for the same reasons. :/

Besides, finding a decent fro wig has to be an awful chore. Making happy trees is harder than one thinks. HMMMM I AM USUALLY BETTER AT THIS but this year's been a dud for me too. It needs to be slightly funny but obviously not frumpy. I'm not letting you walk out the house like a manwhore either, young man, so hm.

Full disclosure: my first thought after this was Sherlock Holmes, but I think that is just my fall-back OF COURSE THAT'S DISTINGUISHED AND INTRIGUING costume.

Sherlock Holmes is actually an awesome idea. I wonder if I have the time/money to hunt down his hat/cloak combo.

I'm party-hopping with a guy dressed as Indiana Jones, and I'm trying to figure out the logistics of either a Sallah or Short Round costume.

NEVER MIND, SIR, NEVER MIND. I suppose there is Comedian right before his UNTIMELY DEATH because who doesn't like sitting around in a bathrobe? Or... pooh, I am unsure. I admit that I've had a dire desire to be Paddington Bear, but I am not sure how you feel about bears from Peru.

I have nothing to offer re: costumes though, I haven't done the Halloween thing for years now.
