Quick heads up - I'm heading back to Vancouver for a few weeks for a vacation home, and weddingtiemz. I'll have my computer and net access, but might be a little more scarce, especially from about Aug 8 - 16. Just in case anyone is descending into crippling despair over my reduced presence.
Also, I really want someone to app a sexy female shadow ninja to be Yoshi's foil.

Hokay, so, I'M BACK FROM NEW YORK. It was an awesome week and I am as in love with the Big Apple as ever. Emily drank me under the table you guys, it was epic. But now I am so behind on things and missed the whole plotting period for the Baby Assignment, so here's me doing a frantic catchup:
( ATTENTION PUJA, CONNIE & SARAH )
( ATTENTION MARIE, ANGELA & CASSIE )
( ATTENTION LYSSA, JEN & YAS )
( ATTENTION KAE, LOREN & JANICE )
Feel free to plot with me in this post, as I might be scarce on AIM for a couple more days while I entertain out of town company. Also, everyone else feel free to let me know if anything needs my attention while I slowly sift through what I've missed.
Oh, and ALSO ATTENTION JANICE AND LINDSAY - we need to work out what happened on the Rose/Nardo and Yoshi/Ana dates, respectively.

Ask any of my characters, past or present, a question of your choosing and they will answer truthfully. And then possibly cry a bit about their answer afterwards.
ONE QUESTION EACH, for the sake of my sanity. If you get all sassy and ask more than one question, I will answer the only one that I choose to be the most interesting. Pick wisely.
Edit: Erica has informed me that this post makes me sound like a d-bag. I acknowledge this.

Oh, fine!
Pick one or more of my characters and one or more of yours, and I'll tell you something they've always wanted to say to your character but could never bring themselves to say out loud.

Toronto's Fringe Festival has started up, and I'm covering it for Plank Magazine, so the next week or so I might be a bit more frazzled. I'm seeing ten shows this weekend alone, ooy!
However, one of them is the Silver Stage Project, which is basically giving various movies the Rocky Horror treatment with live performances running in sync with the show. And one of the shows is gonna be Dr. Horrible! How cool is that?
Edit: Weak, apparently Dr. Horrible was bumped due to licensing rights or something. :/ But I'm still seeing the musical episode of Buffy, and maybe Repo!

| Brick |
[20 Jun 2009|10:51pm] |
So I just watched Brick, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It surprised me by doing the whole noir tribute thing with a lot less irony than I would have expected, but playing it so straight worked pretty well in the end, aside from a few speedbumps. Definitely recommend it.
But the best part of it was that it significantly helped me figure out Simon's voice! While I love playing his spazzy failboatery, I often forget to play up his whole noir hardon and the genre underpinnings behind the concept. Watching such a classic, straightforward noir in a high school setting just made me sit up and think oh my god, this is how Simon views his world. It was like watching his life from his (seriously delusional) perspective! I kept finding myself filling in the characters with a Neopolitan roster and imagining him doing the same bleak narration amidst all the lulz. I'm going to try to work on factoring that in more in the future.
Also, see the movie. So good.

| Away We Go |
[17 Jun 2009|11:50pm] |
Away We Go made me so freaking happy. I say this with surprise, because I went in very braced for disappointment. Yes, I am a huge Eggers fan and he was a big draw; plus I'm always willing to give Sam Mendes the benefit of the doubt. But the trailers weren't amazing, I disliked most of the cast, and it seemed just like some sort of Juno: The Next Generation rehash.
... and that last part is still a little bit true, but it was awesome. The movie actually made me comfortable about the future, and life, and aging in general. I walked away from it with the same sense of relief I had from A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, a voice Eggers hasn't really found again since. I've even completely revised my opinions of Rudolf and Krasinski.
In other words, go see it. It's bril.

[07 Jun 2009|10:56pm] |
Okay! One grueling week done, and a leisurely week off ahead of me, complete with pleasantly miserable weather to hopefully facilitate my staying indoors and getting some game catchup done. But first, some things to whine about!
My ex-roommate just got back from a vacation in London, where apparently a local friend introduced him to Tim Burton. And not in passing: he actually spent a good chunk of his vacation chilling out on the miniature set for Alice in Wonderland, shooting the shit. My jealousy knows no bounds.
I just found out that Neil Gaiman is in town tomorrow doing a reading for the Luminato Festival. Of course tickets are sold out by now, they were five minutes after they went on sale a few months ago. I am so angry. I am going to try to sneak in. Somehow.
And finally, because nothing expedites game catchup like a distracting meme:
Give me one of my characters and one of yours, and I'll tell you how they end up together and what their first-born is like*. I might even give you a PB.
*Note my editing out of the standard caveat; because figuring out the inevitable bazillion homoerotic pairings for Johnny would break my brain. I don't care WHAT Undressed says. >.>

[31 May 2009|03:58pm] |
The house is a post-party disaster zone, I'm blinking away a hangover, and I'm sore all over from an epic dodgeball tournament in the middle of a thunderstorm. Clearly the only rational thing to put at the top of my To Do list right now is CATCH UP ON RPLANDIA.
I forgot how difficult it is to keep up with the day-to-day of IC when I'm working 12 hour days, so I'm pretty out of the loop on all of last week. I want to catch up in time for school to go back in, so if my attention needs to be drawn anywhere, please to be doing so. I can do this!
Also, totally unrelated, but this is amazing. Check out all the features before you click I've Seen Enough.

Alright, it took three tries but I finally got the video thing figured out. Here I am answering all of your questions, plus a bonus question from Lou. Youtube keeps cutting off the end to my videos, hence the second one.

Okay, I'm gonna do it but these questions are boring. So I'm going to collapse it into the video Q&A thing Sarah did a while back and invite y'all to ask me questions to answer.
APPROPRIATE questions.

I'm lazily redirecting to the last time for this, even though it only leaves, like, a couple characters left.
The Rated-R Meme. Comment with a character of mine, and I'll give you three random bits of trivia about their sexual practices, preferences, experiences, fantasies, kinks, or something along those lines. Feel free to mention multiple characters or a character multiple times. Past characters are fair game!

| the schedules, they are a-changin'; |
[08 May 2009|01:33pm] |
As some of you know I'm out of a job as of today, and back onto these mean streets that birthed me. I only mention this because my RP schedule is likely to change quite a bit, seeing as I do pretty much 90% of my RP from work. In my backwards world, unemployment is going to reduce my presence instead of increase. Just in case anyone is wondering where I went or why I'm not online all day as per usual.
I'll still be around, just much more randomly. Also I'm probably starting a new gig next week, but it'll be on set rather than in office, so no more playing-from-work for me. :(

I will never buy Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth.

[28 Apr 2009|11:36pm] |
Oh man so tonight I was at this monthly event at a bar called NSFW Night, where a few local comedians get together and screen the best recent viral humour videos and do running commentary. It's always good for a laugh and some great vids, but tonight was extra great because who hops up on the stage but My Secret Identity's Jerry O'Connell. Surprise guest co-host! Guy was freaking hilarious, and incredibly witty. His reaction to this, which was nearly rolling on the ground laughing, was priceless.
I was sitting at a table with his friends so I got to shake his hand and such after the show, it was pretty cool. And it felt vaguely illicit that when doing so I was thinking I want to PB you so hard right now.
